BURNIN RED IVANHOE - M144, Denmark 1969 (SHADOKS 178)
LP 600 numbered / heavy gatefold POP-UP sleeve / 2 x 180 gram pressing / printed innersleeves / poster / knight card / 2 page insert with liner notes / many unseen photos
Burnin Red Ivanhoe is a Danish progressive rock band which was formed by Karsten Vogel in 1967 in Copenhagen, Denmark. After a couple of years touring, the band were signed by the Sonet label in 1969 and released their debut album M144. In the UK, the group's record distribution was done by Dandelion Records after Peel heard their debut album. They also received some positive write-ups in the Melody Maker. After several albums, the group split in 1974 with Karsten Vogel forming Secret Oyster. One of the earliest (if not the earliest) progressive rock album of Scandinavia and certainly of Denmark (along with Culpepper’s Orchard), BRI’s debut album is also notable for being a double one (fighting with Norway’s Junipher Greene for that title) and is filled with very diverse influences. Resolutely rock in spirit, the album oscillates between the blues, soul, jazz (or more likely jazz-rock) and many more folkloric styles, without actually being folky. When BRI released their debut in 1969 the band existed already for two years. Thus it’s not surprising that they’ve gathered already enough material to fill a double album. Originally their music was rooted in blues-rock with a strong psyche folk influence as demonstrated in most of the shorter tracks. Perhaps one of the most important album from Denmark and for the first time reissued with the original POP-UP sleeve, which was quiet a nightmare to produce. Burnin Red Ivanhoe is still playing live and when you are lucky you can see a concert in Denmark.

RÄVJUNK - Uppsala Stadshotell Brinner, Sweden 1977 (SHADOKS 185)
LP 500 numbered / heavy sleeve / 180 gram pressing / 2 page insert
For the first time reissued on LP Scandinavia's best Punk-Psych band from Sweden. Hailing from Uppsala these young musicians recorded this that today is one of the most rare albums of the 70's. The bands style was quite unique, as they were heavily influenced by the German Krautrock bands, but also saw the heavy psych movement as a bright star. So the tracks on these albums are often short tracks with heavy and fuzzed out guitars. Other tracks could keep the members going for 10 minutes in guitar jams. The album was christened Uppsala Stadshotell Brinner and its contents clearly showcase the contemporary trends of the North European underground. The A-side delivers an impressive edifice of very raw punk rock and hard rock, mixed with some bluesy scales and progressive moves. The heavy drone excursions on the flip-side sound definitely much more Teutonic with obvious kraut rock allusions. Several influences are evident, but it’s all blended into something unique as each member brought their own intriguing ingredients into the music. Guitarist Christer was a Hendrix freak and singer Sören was deeply involved in the new punk rock movement. Bassist Lars-Eric was very much into Jack Bruce and Cream, while Peter the drummer was an avid fan of German bands such as CAN and Guru Guru. What a great album! We are trying to release another LP by the band later this year with many unreleased tracks. Rävjunk (fox-piss) is perhaps the best Psych album ever released in Sweden in the 70's.

FUSION FARM - Rush Job, UK 1971 (SHADOKS 186)
LP 500 numbered / heavy sleeve / 180 gram pressing / 2 page insert
We have heard about Fusion Farm for the first time from a well-known French collector who sent us the music. It took many years to locate the band and by coincidence the daughter of one of the band members found us via social media. So we could set up a deal. The album was originally released very limited on the S.R.T label (Grannie) with a hand-sprayed cover (very much like the original Tony Caro & John). Originals are very very rare and fetching high prices on the collectors market. This reissue also includes the tracks from the rare single "FAT JUDY/GYPSY MOUNTAIN WOMAN".

They got radio plays and played a lot of shows in London and the surrounding cities before heading off to Europe and gigging constantly - Germany became a second home, in particular Frankfurt and Munich and they found favor playing at many US Army air bases.
They also played the 15000 capacity FRANKFURT FESTHALLE supporting Bad Company and Black Oak Arkansas, who never showed up and a riot ensued and the venue was trashed! The band changed personnel several times but the core of the band and song writing team of Bob Bett and Normal Ley remained constant. The band split in 1979 to pursue other projects.

Great Psych tracks with snotty "Stooges" like songs, great guitars, drums, cool vocals and bass, some tracks are dreamy and some are very powerful British Underground tunes.

CIRCULATION - Tank Tracks, UK 1969 (SHADOKS 032)
CD: in jewelbox
Real Garage sound like early VU. Most songs by the band, wellcrafted with the right spirit. Not as perfect as some other Deroy but really stoned and trippy with cheezy organ and raw guitars. Beside Complex, Parameter and Candida Pax the rarest and maybe best album on this label. Circulation was formed by pupils at Bedales School, Petersfield, Hampshire, England in the late 1960s. It was an independent initiative, rather than an official school project, but was encouraged by some of the staff. The group rehearsed in the Bedales music school and performed regularly at school dances in the dining hall. The band composed its own music but also played many of the rock and blues classics of the time. It built up an enthusiastic following within the school but was little known outside.

Family and fans signed up in advance for vinyls, 50 of which were pressed by Deroy Sound Service, based in Carnforth, Lancashire.
This is real Underground....

BLUESET - Rock Machine, Sweden 1974 (SHADOKS 183)
CD: in jewelbox - 1 bonus track -
This great Swedish album by BLUESET was recorded in Södertälje, not far from Stockholm, in 1974. Blueset recorded 2 singles on Efel prior to the album plus a another single the same year the album came out. This only LP is very rare and reaching high prices on the collectors market. Sine at least two of the original members on the album has passed away, it began a hard search for the music owners. Our friend Tomi found the original bass player from the singles (Ingemar Linder - who also supplied all photos for the reissue) and Kerstin, the widow of Kenth Loong, guitarist, singer and composer of the album. So we are happy to re-release this album for the first time on LP.

An unreleased album is in the vaults of a producer in Stockholm which hopefully will be mixed one day so it can be released too...
Kenth Loong - guitar & vocals, Mikael Olofsson - bass, Claes Jansson - drums.
Our CD has 1 bonus track from a rare single with Ingemar Linder on bass.
ROCK MACHINE is highly recommended for fans of Hard Rock and heavy Blues-Psych, stoned hippie vibes, heavy guitar work, great English vocals and strong bass and drums grooves, very well produced and one of the best Scan album coming out this year.
